I know I haven't posted in a while. It's mostly because I'm frantically looking for work. I've applied to over 20 jobs, some in the industry some not and haven't heard boo from any of them. NOT A SINGLE ONE. I'm running out of money, and i can't even get a retail job to pay the bills. ugh. well i'm off to go give my resume to a beauty supply store down the street. we'll see if they hire the girl who has a bachelors degree but can't run the cash register.

Well mostly because this thing was kind of a bust. If compliment had been cash, i'd be able to pay rent this month. but instead i sold one of my upcycled shopping totes. I talked to tons of people and gave lots of business cards out got asked to do a custom piece (then she never called). I got one of my donated looks back because no one wanted to buy it. It was the first look out on the run way and no one seemed to understand that it was an auction and your supposed to bid. the rest of the bids were like pulling teeth and everything went for way less than expected. I wonder if the LAB lost money on this event?

Whatever. I'm moving on and applying to more local design companies. I put things that I make up for sale on my etsy page. pretty weak right now but I'm hoping someone buys something, even if it's out of pity.

fashion show!

Tonight is the strip tease auction/fashion show. all my garments are pressed and ready to go, and now they even have labels in them! this is the outfit i donated to them for the auctioning. my model, the lovely miss kara is not nearly as tall as the 5'11 soo joo who wore this outfit for the show in may. so the top looked like a mini dress, which is how i had originally envisioned the piece, so kara will wear that as a dress. nd since i cant un-donate the pants that go with it, just threw together a top that would go with them. so yes i gave them another top but now i get two looks in the show. give a little, get a little.

I'm pretty proud of the top i made, it took me three hours start to finish, it fits and is cleanly finished. all my favorite things. not to mention it's all kinds of sexy! without further ado.

Also, if you will notice the form that my lovely top is on. That would be my graduation gift from my chuug. She had only been used once and if a full figure, meaning she has legs! I'm very happy to have her in my design arsenal. can't be a draper without her!

These ex-friend people (or secret crushes that don't know you exist) that you want to still keep tabs on for your own curiosity or to see if they talk shit about you? have one of those? I have more than a few. and it totally bugs me when i find out they remove me from their "list" or "hood" or post privately so i can't read it or move to post on their secret blog. I'm sure i'm just being psycho, but i don't want to have to talk to these people to find out what they are doing, isn't that what the internet is for, keeping me informed and at arms length???

Big ideas...I'm gettin' 'em!

Yesterday I Dropped off my "donated look" to "The LAB". They gave me my three comp tickets and a stack of post cards AKA show fliers. I was pretty excited to see my name on one of those. After four years of art school, things like show fliers printed on post cards are just an everyday thing and sometimes one would walk past an entire table of them unless a word or image caught ones eye. now i have my very own!

Kara met me at the Thrift Town on mission. I had a brilliant idea, vintage pillowcases turned shopping bags! i love when i get these ideas! i felt solid, and motivated, and strong! i know i'm not the first person to have this idea and i might not even be the only person to be selling these things at the trunk show, but i need something that i can accomplish with super low overhead. the other thing i really like about this idea is that i'm up cycling, giving a second life to something that was eventually going to be trashed. I'm giving this stuff, used bed linens, a second life.

Afterwards we went back to Kara's new abode. She lives with 3 boys (well four boys and a girl) in a huge Victorian flat. super nice place and all her roommates seem cool too. I have to admit I'm pretty smitten with the other girl in the house. Big gorgeous eyes, exotic features, shy and sweet. She was really unsure of me at first, but after a while we became fast friends. well enough talk, I'll just show you a picture of her.

Kara live right next to the BART station so i caught the last train to the east bay. This particular station is one of my favorite architecturally. it's open and relatively clean but when you are alone there at night it can be creepy. Since Kara and i had just spent the last fe hours scaring ourselves with TV shows that investigate the paranormal it was kinda cool. i took these pics... enjoy.

To be honest, i have no clue. If my plants were children CPS would have taken them away from me a long time ago and then get a court order to rip my uterus out. seriously. This summer my little volunteers or "miraculous survivors" as I like to call them have decided that the theme will be orange.
