home alone.

    Today was my first weekday home alone, with nothing to do.  woke up, did some interneting called the zafu.com place and made an appointment for next week to do denim fit testing.  that will be quick cash.  i signed up to be a research test subject at UC Berkeley.  they want me to do a test with alcohol and decision making, but i think i can't do it because i'm on psychoactive drugs.  oh well. The study involves 2 sessions of ~5 hours each. A single dose of
naltrexone or placebo, and a single drink of alcohol will be given in each session. I would be paid $10/hour (2 sessions of ~5 hours each) with a $50 completion bonus. I would also receive an additional check for $40 if you
agree to a blood sample donation.  so $190 for 10 hours of work?  this is why i signed up, there are 30 other studies just like this one with similar pay.  i'm all about helping science.

    "the seven daughters of eve"  has been okay so far, i really could have skipped the chapter where he explains DNA and what it does.  I'm at the part where he talks about blood groups, it's not the best way to look at population movement but it's an interesting start.  he seems to be following the development of genetic study, which is a little boring but i'm like 40 pages in. 

    Some little rat bastard is eating my plants and here they are!!! these are my black watchman holly hocks.  now they look like a freaking metro card!  after a closer inspection i found the little devils that were responsible! i have no idea what they are but i think they came from the strawberry plant my landlord gave me. grumble
  you have to click on the picture to really see what they are.  they might be aphids but i dont know.  if anyone knows what they are or how to kill them without killing the plants and the environment i would love to know.

i made spaghetti for lunch and ramen for dinner.  it's been a noodle-rific day.   i might bake brownies tonight, but only because the mix doesnt require much in the way of ingredients.  i think that in our fridge right now there are condiments and liquor.  thats about it.  so sad.

What are your plans for the summer?
well for those that dont know, i will be in the tri-cities on the 29th of May.  I'm coming home for julianna's first birthday and hopefully to get a car.  i should be there for almost a week.  then i will be in the bay area for all of june trying to make money doing something yet to be determined.  Then, for the first 3 weeks in july i will be camping with my family and visiting with friends in bellingham.  Then it will be back to the bay for more money making and preparing for senior year.
